The Golden Compass movie

There is scary trend emerging in Hollywood. Movie producers are making movies for children for the sole purpose of making them turn their back on God. These soulless people don't realize that without the moral compass that God gives us, this world is becoming more and more dangerous by the minute!!!

But now that the Harry Potter series is over, along comes atheist author Phillip Pullman to put out his version of anti-God books and movies. The first is a movie called the Golden Compass. I always look up questionable movies on ChristianAnswers.net and take their reviews into consideration before making a final decision on what movies my girls can see or even what Tom and I would want to see. Well they had alot to say about The Golden Compass. Here are just a few things:

This film is an adaptation of part the trilogy of His Dark Materials novels by atheist activist Phillip Pullman who was featured in the 2005 documentary series “Why Atheism?”. He is described as “one of England's most outspoken atheists” by New Yorker journalist Laura Miller. For more information, see:
I am very disappointed that Nicole Kidman and Kevin Bacon would have anything to do with this movie. I liked them but not anymore. To read the whole review, including comments from people that have seen the movie, just click here.....Golden Compass review on ChristianAnswers.net.

Welcome to Gaston!

One of Brittanie's friends works at Food Lion in Gaston and couldn't believe how stupid the managers are there. To prove it, she took this picture:Remember you can enlarge this picture my clicking on it. But how can you spell "Kiosk" correctly but not "cigarettes?" Stupid is as stupid does!

Some videos of Katie

Katie spent a few days with Grandma and Grandpa after Thanksgiving and Grandpa took some video of Katie. They weren't that exciting but I did upload some I thought were kinda cute. I'm her mom so I thought they were cute. The voice you hear is Tom's dad.

Here they are:

The poor Panthers

Our Carolina Panthers are looking more and more like a high school team playing in the NFL. Without the Cajun Connection, Jake Delhommme, the Panthers are completely and totally ineffective. I always thought Matt Moore was better than David Carr but for some reason, John Fox disagrees. With Vinny Testaverde out today, Fox put Carr in and he stunk it up all over the field.

Carr not only stinks as QB but he is dumb as a rock. I was reading a commentary about the game on ESPN.com and read something that just proves how stupid Carr really is. Here is an excerpt:

The fans turned on Carr and the Panthers quickly. After Carr's third-down pass was batted down near the end zone, John Kasay kicked a 29-yard field goal to cut the halftime deficit to 10-6.

But not before fans started chanted "We want Moore."

"It's not like we were purposely trying to not score points," Carr said. "They were chanting 'More' -- that they wanted more points. And we were trying to give it to them."

How delusional is he? Does he really think that fans were saying they wanted more points??? Get real! They wanted Matt MOORE not MORE points.

I remember not all that long ago, some stupid fans were screaming for Jake to be taken out and Weinke put in. Then Jake got hurt and they realized Weinke stinks. Well it takes seeing a really bad QB before you appreciate the QB you have. I love our Cajun Connection. He isn't perfect but he is a good QB and a VERY important part of the Panthers team.

In the immortal words of USC fans.....just wait till next year! lol

It's official

It is official....I hate the number 2! Yesterday LSU lost to Arkansas by 2 and today my beloved Gamecocks lost to Clemson by 2. All I can say is I'm thankful it wasn't worse....and that we would have won if Smelley had been in. lol

Frank and Lynn came over and we played a couple of games of Pictionary and then went and watched the game. They are Clemson fans and obviously we are Carolina fans. It was so cool...like having our own stadium. On one side of the room was me, Tom, Brittanie and her friend Cory....all Carolina fans. And on the other side of the room was Frank, Lynn, and Rhiannon....Clemson fans. Will, who is a Clemson fan, was closer to our side and his girlfriend, a Carolina fan, was closer to their side. The cheering went on all game long. It was so much fun. I really enjoyed having them here.....as always.

Oh well let me say it again....just wait till next year! LOL

Recipe

My mother-in-law brought an Eclair Cake to our house for Thanksgiving and it was DELICIOUS!!! She told me it was Paula Deen's recipe. So I went on the Food Network website and grabbed it. So to anyone who is interested for a GREAT dessert for Christmas....try this!!

Paula Deen's Eclair Cake:

Cake:
1 (1-pound) box graham crackers
2 (3 1/4-ounce) boxes instant French vanilla pudding
3 1/2 cups milk
1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Frosting

1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Butter the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan. Line with whole graham crackers. In bowl of an electric mixer, mix pudding with milk; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Fold in whipped topping. Pour half the pudding mixture over graham crackers. Place another layer of whole graham crackers on top of pudding layer. Pour over remaining half of pudding mixture and cover with another layer of graham crackers.

For frosting, blend together sugar and cocoa. Add butter and milk, mixing well. Add corn syrup and vanilla. Stir until creamy. Cover cake with frosting and refrigerate for 24 hours.
This is what a slice of the final product looks like....minus the strawberry though.

Couldn't resist one last picture!

Carolina vs Clemson tomorrow!

I'm worried. My beloved Gamecocks are on a losing streak and now we are playing Clemson tomorrow. We have friends coming over tomorrow to play Pictionary with us and they are Clemson fans. So if we lose, we have the enemy in the house and oh man there won't be any living with Scott after that. lol

I have to say that I'm sad to see the season end....even with the losing streak. I have really enjoyed trash talking with Scott and Frank & Lynn and all of my other Clemson friends. It has been so much fun. But win or lose, let me just say the classic USC line....Just wait till next year! hehehe

USC is the 12th most valuable college football team

Forbes has listed USC the 12th most valuable college football team!!

The rankings reflect a variety of factors, including premium seating, t.v contracts, and corporate sponsorship.

USC's value is $69 million, with a profit of $28.9 million. That's up 22 percent over the previous year, Forbes says, the biggest increase of any school in the top 10.

Clemson was not on the list. Hmmmm does this mean Clemson has no value? lol

For my buddy, Scott

I'm hoping that next week I will be able to blog a picture of my buddy, Scott, in a USC Under Armor jersey!! That's one picture someone should frame and put on the wall in MIS! heheheThis last picture is courtesy of Kelly Nash with The Morning Rush on WNOK. He e-mailed it to me this morning and I couldn't resist posting it!

It's Mountain Dewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I saw this video and thought it was funny (and a better version of the original song Soulja Boi) and showed it to Brittanie. Well she loved it too so we have been singing this around the house and driving Tom nuts. It is so fun! hehehe

So for the guys that work with Tom, if you want to drive him nuts, when you see him with a Mountain Dew just start singing "It's Mountain DEWWWWWW." LOL I love annoying him. It is so fun. hehehe

Here's the video:

Twas the month before Christmas

When all through our land,

Not a Christian was praying

Nor taking a stand.

Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,

The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,

About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say

December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit

Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod

Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa

In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down

At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears

You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty

Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen

On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter

To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith

Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded

The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'

Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say

Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

Katie's vocabulary

I don't chose what Katie watches on TV, although we don't allow Dora the Explorer and Diego because I don't want her to start speaking Spanish. But Katie picks all educational shows. She LOVES to learn.

Yesterday she came to me and asked me what I had just said to her because she missed it because "I was engrossed in my game." I said "engrossed?" She said, "Yes. It means that I couldn't concentrate on anything else." WOW! She's barely 5 and using big words like that...and knows what they mean even! I asked her where she learned that word and she said it was a show called Pinky Dinky Doo. I love that she has such a strong desire to learn. She also wants to be able to write better. She comes home everyday and practices her writing all afternoon on her own. I hope she keeps this up. If she does, the sky is the limit....calling Dr. Sightler! Then again she is Tom's child and loves to argue....may be a lawyer! hehehe

New pictures of Brittanie

I don't know why teenagers have a need to take pictures of themselves with their cell phones but Brittanie is no exception. Here are some pictures that she took and emailed to me.
(above) This is Brittanie with her friend, Cory. This was taken before a rifle team competition. She gets mad at me because when she takes pictures with her two fingers up from inside the bathroom, I always add the caption "She needs to go #2!!" LOLMagoooooo!
Are these two (above and below) Tom faces or what??

Thursday, November 15, 2007

Yep, she's a Sightler!

Brittanie's senior class has been voting for senior superlatives and she found out that she had votes for several categories. But the category that was the funniest to me...and she had over 100 votes (out of 146 votes total) was "Most likely to be late for graduation." I couldn't help but laugh. She's definitely a Sightler. We are all born late and will be late for our own funerals.

Give me a break!

I have always hated political correctness and the latest news just strengthens my resolve to never be politically correct. Australia is telling Santas not to say "Ho Ho Ho" from now on because it is derogatory to women. I kid you not. Check out the pages Google news found on it.

Tom and I were raised not to believe in Santa and were taught the real meaning of Christmas, which is Jesus' birth. We raised our girls the same way. That is a personal preference of ours and we would never push our views on anyone. But to me, this isn't about whether Santa should be taught or not. This is about political correctness going too far. It is just ridiculous. It won't be long before the American Nazis (the ACLU) join those Australian nut jobs and try to do the same thing here. We need to stand up and tell the ACLU and any other band of morons who try to censor us to mind their own business.

Kids don't want to hear Santa saying "ha ha ha." We have lived for decades with "ho ho ho" (in Louisiana it is "Heaux Heaux Heaux") and we are all still alive. Furthermore, you would have to be a ho to be offended by that term. It is just insane.

DOWN WITH THE ACLU!!!

Daddy made her that way!

Last night after Katie got out of the tub, she was in the mood to beat up Tom. He has always made our girls rough and tumble but Brittanie rarely initiated it growing up. Katie almost always initiates the fights. Last night, after barely drying off after her bath (as you can tell in the pictures....she won't let us dry her off anymore because now that she is 5, she is officially a "big girl." hehehe), she walked up to Tom, who was sitting in his recliner and just jumped at him and started beating him up. He loves that. Who needs boys when you have girls who are just as tough? This is a bite. (above) Both of our girls like to bite. They get that from Tom. As a baby, he bit his aunt clean through her bottom lip while acting like he was going to give her a kiss. Then when he was Katie's age, he bit a little French boy's finger clear to the bone. The poor kid had to get stitches! But he learned never to take a toy from Tom! lol

Glad Monday is over!!!

Yesterday, I got up at 4am ready to type. I had it planned that I was going to get 3 dictations done yesterday. Well I got within an hour of finishing the first one and had to stop and get Katie ready for school. She was whining and crying, which is not something she usually does. I thought she felt warm but Tom said no. Well after she was totally dressed, instead of grabbing her Leapster like she normally does, she got right up against me and just sat there and drank some Propel. Well the Propel hadn't hit her stomach good when it was back up...on me, Katie, and the floor. She told me she felt better but I was keeping her home anyway. I sent her to brush her teeth and she drank water from the tap and that came up. Between 7:30 and 9:30, she puked 4 times. After the last time, she wanted me to hold her. At that point, typing is no longer important. So I laid down with her and took a nap with her in my arms. She woke up feeling better and wanting to eat but I made her take it slow because I figured it was just the Phenergan suppository making her stomach ok. So I only let her eat a couple of crackers and some Propel throughout the day. No more pukey!

Today she is back to normal and feeling great. She and Tom raced to his truck, like they normally do, and he let her win. She turned around and told him "Ha Ha I win! I'm a winner and you're a LOSER!" Yep she is definitely back to normal today. Now we just have to hope that none of us catch what she had. It didn't last long but I don't want it anyway!

I finally got the last hour of that dictation done around 4pm. I pulled the reports from the next day to get that dictation started when Brittanie came home crying. Her ex had done something to upset her. Well after hearing the story, I wasn't happy with him either. But Hank took Brittanie to see Saw 4 at the 5:30 show. So I started cooking after she left. Then her ex showed up at the house. He had a permission slip for a rifle team competition today near Aiken. He had called Brittanie and she told him she wasn't home so he asked if I was home. She told him not to bring it by. But he didn't listen. I opened the door and he was standing there with that permission slip in his hand. I told him to come in and have a seat. Then I told him exactly what I thought about his behavior and how he hurt Brittanie. I let him have it for 15 minutes. He said he didn't realize. Yeah ok. He knew exactly how Brittanie would react and he was trying to get a reaction out of her. He got a reaction alright. She left rifle team practice early and then I gave him a reaction from a mom's point of view. I'm not done either. I have a call in to 1SG to discuss it as well. That boy was in our family for over a year. He should know I won't tolerate someone hurting my girls.

I'm just glad Monday is over and am looking forward to having a productive day.

By the way, my in laws came over Saturday and picked Katie up and took her to McDonald's for lunch and let her eat and play there. Then they went to Chuck E. Cheese's to play on the stuff there. Then they took her to Toys R Us and let her pick out a toy. Unfortunately she picked out the most annoying toy in the store, second only to a talking bird that she wanted at first. But she loves the toy. It is a Dalmatian on roller skates that barks and if you don't play with him for 10 seconds, he lays down and wimpers till you pet his head. It is sound activated so he continues to skate and make noise at every sound. She loves it but we have restricted it to the playroom with the door closed. LOL But she had a great day with Grandma and Grandpa. We really appreciate them coming all the way down here to make her birthday special and spend time one on one with them. She loves them and don't get to see them very often. So every time spent with them is precious!

Fire Spurrier and CUT Mitchell

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Spurrier took Smelley out when he wasn't doing bad but in the game tonight against Arkansas, Mitchell is doing what he does best....OVER THROWING his receivers. Cory Boyd had the same reaction I did to about the 100th over throw. Steve Spurrier is too stupid to coach for us anymore. He obviously doesn't have a clue how to coach quarterbacks or how to evaluate what a good quarterback is. Mitchell stinks BIG TIME! His butt should never be allowed off the bench.
Awareness Ribbons Customized - ImageChef.comPut Mitchell on the bench and let a real quarterback lead the Gamecocks!!! Chris Smelley is a quarterback we could be proud of. He is good on and off the field. He is a business major and on the Dean's List every semester. He is also a Christian. Quite a contrast to Mitchell who isn't a good player, dumb as a rock (proven by his arrest record), and has questionable (if any) morals...again proven by his arrest record.

A picture is worth 1000 words!

I had heard about this but a picture is definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!!
Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem.
Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)......the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief????

I know everyone is sick of Bush's decisions but electing a democratic president is NOT the answer. Between Obama and Hilary, there is NO good choice for president!

By the way, for the sceptics out there, I checked this out on Snopes.
